Top Performance by Majestic Action brings Deserved Win

Updated: Apr 26, 2021

Majestic Action returned to the winner’s circle at Rangiora on Anzac Day with a totally professional trotting display. Drawing well after months on the unruly list and with perfect manners, Molly reminded us that when all the stars align, she is an excitement machine for her group of owners.

“We’ve had the mare for just over a year now,” says Trent Yesberg. ‘And it’s taken much of that time to work her out.” At times excitable and inclined to get herself worked up, she has nevertheless always shown us plenty. Lately she’s really come on in her manners and has been trotting impressively without a lot of luck.”

Ripple Creek took Majestic Action on at a time she was at her worst behaviour. Consigned to the unruly, she let a lot of people down when first racing from the stable in June/July 2020. Trent’s patience was rewarded in late December with a win at Motukarara, followed by another at Addington six week later.

In between times she has had her share of misfortune, and has got into some trouble of her own making. “Up in the grades and starting at the back in big fields hasn’t been her go,” says Trent. “But her manners have steadily improved and last week we took her off the unruly. Unfortunately she drew the second row, and the race didn’t suit her.”

Roll on seven days and drawn nicely in a smaller field in the Gallipoli Fillies & Mares Trot over 2000m, Molly showed us what she is capable of. Beginning well and slotting into the trail, she used the passing lane to good effect and won convincingly by two lengths. “It was all very straightforward,” said Majestic Action’s driver Mathew Williamson. “She felt really good all the way and did the business as she liked.”

Majestic Action will now take a short break from racing with a view to a winter campaign. Amongst all her trials and tribulations Trent has worked out a couple of key factors. “She definitely likes the shorter distances, and she seems a more settled mare when the weather’s cooler.”

Sometimes good things take time, and at Ripple Creek we’re all looking forward to more fun and success with Majestic Action as the seasons change.
