Ripple Creek Equine Services
Ripple Creek is owned and managed by Trent and Sarah Yesberg. Trent and Sarah share a common vision to operate one of the most innovative, sustainable and forward thinking equine businesses in New Zealand.
Starting out as yearling preparers (formerly '5 Star Yearling Preparation') for the Standardbred yearling sales, Ripple Creek soon expanded into other activities and outgrew the original property in Flaxton. Trent and Sarah now operate from a purpose-built facility at their property in Ohoka, which has allowed Trent to fully engage his talents for harness racing training, as well as offering pre-training, rehab, weaning, and agistment. Trent and Sarah spent a lot of time planning the layout of the property, which is safe, functional, modern and gives each horse the best opportunity to thrive in a specialised, hands-on environment.
Trent graduated from Lincoln University with a Bachelor of Agricultural Science majoring in Pasture Agronomy. When he was in his teens his love for harness racing was founded and a passion soon grew. While attending university he gained valuable work experience with some of New Zealand's best harness racing trainers, beginning the dream of one day being a leading trainer himself.
After graduating, Trent worked in his field of study for a few years while operating a Standardbred yearling preparation business under the name 5 Star Yearling Preparation. Business grew until Trent had the biggest draft at the PGG Wrightson South Island Standardbred Yearling Sales. In 2017 a name and branding change to Ripple Creek Equine Services took place, better reflecting the diverse range of services by now being offered at the Ohoka property.
In 2016/17 Trent also took a leading management role at Dancingonmoonlight Farm, His role there included looking after and standing the legendary stallion Christian Cullen, as well as pasture care and handling young stock. On gaining his harness racing trainer's licence, Trent's first successes were two wins with 'Blue Blazer', owned by Harvey Kaplan. This was a horse Trent picked would do great things when he first laid eyes on him. Trent has a great eye for a horse and is often involved in selecting and purchasing racing and breeding stock for his clients.
Following a successful 5-year banking career working for both Heartland Bank in Ashburton and ANZ Bank in Rangiora, Sarah now owns and operates the successful and busy photographer business 'Sarah Clements Photography'.
After a riding accident in 2013, Sarah picked up a camera to take photos at horse shows, including Horse of the Year and other events. That quickly led to photographing a few weddings within her first year. Fast forward five years and Sarah is one of the leading wedding photographers in the South Island and New Zealand. She shoots over 45 weddings each summer, traveling throughout New Zealand and overseas.
Sarah was a competitive horse rider, competed in showing in both the North and South Islands. She produced both ponies and hacks for the show ring and has an eye for finding future champions. Being a horsewoman Sarah understands what makes a good equine photo, and knows how best to show off confirmation and movement in each horse she photographs. She is hands-on with the horses when required, and the groundskeeper often found in the garden or mowing the lawns.
